Southern Black Dance Theatre returns with a new concert, Dripping Black Honey, an ode to the women who have come before us and the women to follow. This will be the 2nd mainstage production of the ensemble, this time in Nashville, TN. It features Southern Black Arts' student artists, internationally recognized musicians and the creative work of local, Nashville choreographers.
Proceeds from the concert go towards SBA's Summer Arts Academy and Emerging Artist Scholarship.
Our Art + Community program is hosting its 3rd Annual Summer Arts camp in Clarksville, TN.
June 3 - 15, young artists will attend dance, theatre, music and drawing classes for two weeks. We will venture the city to learn about artists from Clarksville who have left a significant impact on the local and national arts community.
We have teachers from all arts disciplines sharing their knowledge and passion with our students. Register here.
Southern Black Arts returns to
Black Clarksville's Juneteenth Block Party. We are hosting an art walk featuring the work of our student artists, local high school and middle school students and prominent artists from the community.
Our student artists will also perform a showcase of dancing and acting highlighting their skills and education from the Summer Arts Academy.
Southern Black Arts Will Award their second annual student scholarship. The Emerging Artist Scholarship is awarded to a local TN senior (upcoming freshman) at the BLK Excellence Brunch hosted by Black Clarksville.
The scholarship is awarded based artist talent and pursuit of creative opportunity. Applications are accepted by nomination only.

Dance
Southern Black Dance Theatre is a dance ensemble comprised of local artists and choreographers, producing dance concerts to fun fund our community programs.

Music
We incorporate fundamental music education into our annual Summer Arts Academy. Campers learn from teachers and artists and experience both vocal and instrumental music.

Theatre
From skits to set design, our campers receive a well-rounded education on the history and elements of theatre arts. Acting is a key component of our showcase.

Visual Art
We afford our student artists the opportunity to exhibit and produce visual works and mixed media experiences. Working artists volunteer their time and art to support our initiative.
